Martha Reeves Cook was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Selma, Alabama. Martha received her Bachelor of Arts in 1990 from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1996, she received her Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, where she was a member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board (Chief Justice, 1995 to 1996). Martha was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1996 and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama, and the Alabama Supreme Court. Martha is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the Women's Section of the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Bar Association and is on the roster of mediators for the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution. She is an affiliate member of the Birmingham Association of Realtors and the Birmingham Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, and is an ambassador with the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce.
